Malaysian trillionaire claims he’s the ‘Emperor of Indonesia’

A Tanjung Malim-born Dutch citizen claims he is a descendent of the Emperor of China and that his bloodline is linked to royal families in India, Java and Siam.

IT is not every day that you get to meet a trillionaire. So when I was invited to interview Kamal Ashnawi, a person I’ve never heard of, I said yes.

On Saturday morning, at a Kuala Lumpur hotel coffee house together with two of Kamal’s aides, I waited for the so-called trillionaire.

Wearing a baseball cap, long-sleeved shirt and jeans, he sauntered over to our table. The two aides bowed, pressed their palms together to their forehead as if greeting royalty and kissed his hands.

“We call him Tuanku as he is a sultan from Indonesia,” one of the aides whispered to me.

According to Kamal, he is a Dutch citizen born in Tanjung Malim, Perak, on Jan 1, 1964.

“I’m a descendent of the Emperor of China and in a history that went haywire, my family fled from China to Kedah. I traced my bloodline to the royal families of China, India, Java and Siam,” claimed the man who is also known as Raden Mas Prabhu Gusti Agung Ki Asmoro Wijoyo.

“I grew up in Tanjung Malim and my family here is very simple and ordinary. Nobody in my family talks about our royal blood and wealth. But my grandmother once told me: “You are special and, when the time comes, you will know.”

It was in Holland in the late 1980s that Kamal “found out who he really was”. A member of an Indonesian royal family, kicked out of the country by president Sukarno, told him he was of royal blood.

In London in the early 1990s, a lawyer told Kamal about his royal family’s massive wealth. Unconvinced, he told the lawyer to prove his claims.

He and the lawyer flew from London to Hong Kong to meet the “keeper of the royal treasure”. From there, Kamal and the keeper travelled to Kunming in China.

They hiked up a mountain for four hours and reached a cave guarded by an old couple who, Kamal says, are immortals.

“If you tried to pass them without their blessing, you would cough blood and die,” he said.

Inside the three-metre-high cave, Kamal saw gold bars stacked like a pagoda, US$15mil (RM46mil) in jade and US$10mil (RM31mil) in diamonds and stacks of US dollars.

“I took a gold bar and knocked it on a rock. It was really gold. The treasure is the wealth of the dynasties that ruled China. Their wealth was also kept in other mountains and in vaults all over the world,” he said.

About three years ago, when Kamal watched Nicholas Cage’s movie National Treasure, he laughed.

“The treasure in the movie was small compared to the wealth I saw in the mountain,” he said.

Next, Kamal told of his meeting two years ago in Kuala Lumpur with Dr Wong Eng Po, a royal physician from China.

Dr Wong placed his hand on Kamal’s bald head, then immediately bowed in front of Kamal and ordered his five followers to do the same.

“He said I was the reincarnation of Emperor Nurhaci (1661-1626) of China. He felt an energy on my head which was superhuman because an emperor, unlike an ordinary human, has to think more.

“I’m the reincarnation of two emperors of China,” Kamal added.

He elaborated that a few years ago, the royal family decided he would be the sole administrator of the royal wealth kept in secret accounts in about 1,000 banks worldwide.

“This means that 86.7% of the world’s money belongs to me,” he said.

Taking out several folders, Kamal said: “You’re lucky, I brought documents.”

He produced an A4-sized paper with the photographs of the national treasure, the immortal couple and several “official-looking” letters allegedly from HSBC certifying he has an account of five trillion euros (RM20tril).

“That is a small amount. I have more money in other banks and institutions,” he added.

I wondered why his name has not appeared in the Forbes‘ list of world’s richest people. And a suspicion lingered about his claims.

However, I could not authenticate his documents since the bank was closed for Chinese New Year.

Kamal has not made any withdrawal from the account as “it is not money that you can move just like that”.

“The money is under the control of Indonesia, Germany, Britain, the US and the Euro Central Bank and I’ve got to go smooth with them,” he said.

“I can’t use the money directly but I will invest in certain projects. Like three trillion euros (RM12tril) to green a desert in China.”

Curious, I asked what was the difference between a billionaire and a trillionaire.

He replied: “A billionaire needs to show he has the money. But for me, I don’t need to show that I got money. I can travel in a bus. I can wear slippers.”

Born in the year of the dragon, Kamal believes 2012 is his year. In March, he says he will negotiate with institutions such as the IMF to be recognised as the Emperor of Indonesia.

He says he’s rich. But his story could just be as rich.

Let’s hope he is not another Elie Youssef Najem, the so-called Lebanese billionaire who made headlines for all the wrong reasons. – The Star

OmniGraffle for the iPad is the best thing I’ve found for creating flow charts and mind maps on my iPad, it combines the best of all three off the aforementioned programs and deliver them on the iPad. Touch screen- via what is possibly the best user interface of any iPad app read that again- I said any iPad app . I wish most of the other iPad apps I use regularly were as throughtfully designed, powerful, and easy to use as OmniGraffle.

What I like best about OmniGraffle is the way it uses Stencils. Stencils are collections of Pre-made shapes, images, and connectors to use in your documents, as shown in the figure on the left below. On the right side of this images you see the set Of Stencil libraries that come with OmniGraffle ; they include connections , Shapes, software, three-Dimensional, and several others. I’ve since added a bunch of third-party stencil sets for other uses- such as web flowcharts. Home-theater connections, video lighting, camera staging , and more.

Using stencil objects is a pleasure. Drag an item from a Stencil Collections onto the canvas and the object behaves just as you expect an object to behave- just as objects behave in your favourite desktop graphics applications such as photoshop, design, and so on, tap an object to select it or tap and drag to select multiple objects at once. Selected items have ‘’handles’’ on the corners and sides, just as you’d expect.

If you ever have to print documents on your Mac or PC –whether locally over your Wi-Fi network or remotely over 3G or EDGE- print to share is what you need. Plus, it’s so chock-full of other useful features that I hardly know where to start.

Print n Share is easy to set up. First install WePrint (freely available on their website) on your MAC or PC, and then download and install Print n Share on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Simply start up the app and let it know that you have WePrint installed and connect to the same network as the desktop running it. From then on, you can print any files directly on your iPhone that can be printed from the desktop running WePrint.

A nice touch for the app is the ability to print contact information from your Contacts section of the iPhone. Print n Share will access the information directly and provide you with several options for printing, including the much-required DYMO LabelWriter feature. This will let you print directly to the label printer. After you choose the printing template, Print n Share will pull out the information from your Contacts and set the rest up for you.

With that taking care of the Print part of Print n Share, you might wonder what about sharing? Well, the app can be easily configured to work in combination with your networked desktops, online services such as Box.net or MyDisk.se and even sync with your MobileMe account, so you can share your documents with any of these services and have them available on the go.

Results for queries were not perfect , while a ‘’burn Notice’’ search did produce a one-liner about the TV show , Iris said it needed time to formulate the reply when I asked it to search for ‘’twilight’’ I assume this is its way of telling me to try again.When you say that you want to send an e-mail, its response is: ‘’I want to become smarter than humans’’

It might sound like a gimmick to tout an app’s ability to recognise Spoken Singlish and other local terms, but its benefits are tremendous.User no longer need to do a word search by keying in names and wondering if that delicious Indian rice dish should be spelled nasi briyani, nasi brani or nasi biryani.Better yet, if you have in hankering for carrot cake, its default result will be chye tow kway instead of the American cake of the same name.Fire up the app and you can search for food, banks, ATMs and other amenities; make a restaurant reservation; or search business directories, among other things.

Voice input applies only to searches, so users cannot ‘’ask’’ the app to book a taxi or buy movie tickets. If there is a voice option, a red button will appear on the screen.

For the most part, the app easily recognises search request for restaurant such as Sakae Sushi, amenities such as POSB ATMs and local food such as Hokkien mee, kaya toast nasi lemak and even hum cheen pang (a-salty-sweet Chinese fritter).

Still, the app is a work-in-progress, so it does not recognise every last local speciality, While it can search by its dialect name, ‘’orhluak’’ was beyond its current capabilities.

And you can forget about the location-based feature, the app can pinpoint where you are, but it does not list search results by proximity to your location.

So a search for Hokkien mee in Toa Payoh produced results in Changi and the East Coast area. Some faraway eateries were right at the top of the list.

The draw of crowd to the BookFest @ Malaysia has been overwhelming even though I expect Kuala Lumpur City should not be bustling with heavy traffic Jam like during Normal work days , especially when this week is the golden holidays week , where most people would have gone back to their home town to celebrate the Ramadan Holidays .

Maybe Truly Bookfest@ Malaysia could be organising a Mega sales that could be one of its kind bustling with Special deals from Books to stationary , as I noticed the halls were crowded

Among bustle and hustle and I noticed most visitors moving towards the main stage where it is organise like a speaker’s corner for Author and Publisher to talk about their books

As I moved towards the stage , the PA system announced, “Lets Welcome Tun Dr Mahathir “ , Well I can understand why the crowd now as our truly patriotic Former Prime Minister of Malaysia has always been a draw of crowds at any occasion where he has been invited , and this round he is here at the Bookfest for the launch of the Chinese edition of his memoirs “A Doctor in the House (yi sheng dang jia) “with loud applause from the crowd

While maintaining a consistent smile, Tun Dr Mahatir took to the stage, he is appearing at the bookfest as an accomplished VIP author to promote his Books and took to his fan’s questions fielded by members of the public in a question-and-answer session.

“ I enjoyed 22 years of working and until now I still work from morning to 6pm, such as meeting people, writing and reading,” he told a crowd at the BookFest@Malaysia 2011. At this Q & A , some political question were also fielded and DR Mahathir who always has a flair with quotes answered to the floor when a person ask about the recent Bersih Demonstration;

He quoted ; "No one should be entitled to everything that he thinks he is entitled to, because everyone must make some sacrifice."

Responding to another question from the floor , who asked about how he managed to turn around Malaysia's economy during the 1997-1998 financial crisis, Dr Mahathir said:

“If you keep your money under your pillow, the economy will never grow ………the reply was jovial and a pleasant answer to the crowd who responded with applause.

On another question from a person who ask how he managed his time for his age , well he answered ;

“ People who retire, please don't just go to sleep and stay at home. Do something because if you are interested in doing things, you will live longer,” Dr Mahathir said to laughter and applause from the crowd.

I like this remark as he reminded us , to keep upgrading oneself and also keep our mind focused to acquire more knowledge with now easy access to the internet .

Dr Mahathir is the former statesman who has brought in the MSC to this country , and I believe he brings forth and open an opportunity for everybody to be able to appreciate the New Digital Media Era and how he has contributed to reduce the digital divide between the Old and the Young .

FACE OFF! Between Captain America and the Twisted Gladiator-Ghostbuster

Director Chai Yee Wei is well known for his ability to create horror films which have the same tone and effect to those produced in Hong Kong and Thailand. His success was portrayed in his 2009 child-possession flick, Blood Ties. Now, he is back with a new movie, Twisted, a 3 part horror film.

In the first plot, it revolves around a drug dealer (played by Mark Lee) and his girlfriend (played by Candy Lim). He kills his pregnant girlfriend in a car crash and the haunting begins. He takes on the ghost on a one to one battle, and creates a make-shift armor from his car parts. Mark Lee’s comical battle does not pull through well, as the battle was long and there was no point for it.

The second story is more of a black comedy, rather than a ghost story. It is about 2 evil stewards’ attempting to drug and rape 2 hot stewardess. However, in their attempt, they killed more people accidentally than reaching their goals. There were no ghosts involved.

The last story has 2 mediums set on investigating on a possessed daughter and her creepy mother. It is a part-funny, part-serious story, but flows in the same old ghost story flow. Overall, Twisted does not have much twists its story and does not show its full scare-potential.

The poster of Twisted looks uncannily similar to that of our dear Captain America. With Mark Lee’s make shift armor mimicking Cap’s almighty shield. Was this intended by the director from the start?

Captain America is known to be one of Marvel’s greatest super hero of all time. Once deemed an unfit soldier, Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans), volunteers for an experimental program which turns normal humans into super soldiers. With his new powers, he was called Captain America. He is a beacon of hope to his country and his people. His story of his battle against Red Skull is well known to many.

Between the 2 films, Captain America is obviously having greater support than that of Twisted. However, Captain America’s film seems to reflect strongly on the previous James Bond film, a guy with plenty of gadgets. Overall, Cap America’s rating would reign higher for a 3 and a half star; half a star better than that of Twisted.
